Therapeutic Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is one of the most effective and readily available ways to prevent and treat muscle injuries, muscular pain and stiffness.

Treatment employs various degrees of pressure designed to treat both deep and superficial tissues.

Remedial massage can help to correct and normalise muscles and soft tissues.

It can help to reduce adhesions, break down scar tissue, reduce inflammation, and improve
Joint mobility and aid in the release of natural endorphins to help to relieve pain.

Home exercises may be given to practice between treatment sessions.  These may include exercises to stretch and improve mobility, exercises to build up strength in weakened muscles or proprioception exercises to improve balance and co-ordination.

Sports and Deep Tissue Massage

Sports Massage/Deep Tissue Massage is a combination of fundamental massage and deep friction techniques used alongside other neuromuscular and muscle energy techniques, to contract and stretch the muscles, influencing different types of muscle fibre and correcting neurological pathways.

The benefits of Sports/Deep Tissue Massage include strengthening weak musculature, lengthening and correcting stiff tight muscles.  It helps to reduce excessive muscle tone and releases joint restriction.

This type of massage helps the muscles to recover quicker after training sessions, helps to improve strength and stamina and when used regularly can even help to prevent injuries from occurring.

Again, as with the Remedial massage treatments, home exercises may be given to practice between treatment sessions (see above).

Therapeutic Relaxation and 'Mum To Be' Massage

Therapeutic Relaxation Massage is a gentle yet firm relaxing massage technique that manipulates the body’s soft tissue with flowing movements using varying degrees of pressure and stretching.

The slow repetitive movements make it very relaxing and help to soothe body and mind.

If necessary I may combine some remedial massage techniques to ease any particularly tight muscles that may be causing pain or uncomfort, but with relaxation massage the pressure is lighter.

Pre-blended aromatherapy oils can be used to compliment the therapy

The oils and massage mediums I use are of the highest quality and of ethical means.  I do not use products that have been tested on animals and where possible I use 100% natural organic essential and base oils.

For 'Mum To Be' massage, I have a specially adapted body support cushion which allows Mum to lay comfortably on her front during the treatment.  The cushion is designed to support the body whilst allowing the bump to be free.  This is great for Mum and Baby because as well as alleviating the weight and stress on the body it also allows the baby more room to move around.  The endorphins released when Mum is relaxed, passes over to the baby therefore relaxing them as well.

The skin nourishing oils I use during 'Mum To Be' massage have been specifically blended to suit ante-natal care.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

I am trained to use Therapeutic Ultrasound and I often use this in conjunction with massage therapy to aid healing.

I use a dual frequency ultrasound machine which can be used to treat superficial and deeper muscle tears and ligament damage.

Ultrasound has been clinically proven to increase healing time by up to 40%.

The low frequency sound waves emitted by the machine penetrate the damaged tissues and increase the action of the cells to remove damaged tissue cells and speed up the repair process.
